Hmmm reminds me of of the times I would shoot a rattle snake at my hunting camp. My friends asked me "you gonna eat him"?
I said "nope" " You want him"?
They would say "No thanks...how come you're not gonna eat him"?
I would say " Cause I ain't that hungry".
Sooooo..... I guess...... I'm just not that hungry.

Tastes like chicken, just a lot of tiny bones. Just had to try it once. Still got the hat band.

I relocate them to a burn pit behind the barnyard. . . after I put a .22 bullet between his eyes. :D

I've killed my share here and if it's convenient, I'll kill the next one. They seem to be a reoccurring nuisance. Sometimes it's just easier to take them for a ride and let them run off.
I like the the .410. It's easier to aim at night and I don't have to worry about collateral damage.
I hit one in the head with a 1x4 one morning on the way out of the out the gate, the board was in the burn pile and was the only thing around. Threw it in the truck (opossum) and dropped it off just as it was coming around, about a mile away. I suspect she survived but I can't be sure.

I wouldn't worry about depleting the population. There's plenty of 'em. :D

Imagine going into a dark pump house...middle of the night...crouching down and stepping over the tile to settle in to do some work...only to hear a scratching sound. Shine the light and there is that smiling possum right beside you.

That's when I suck all the air out of the pump house (inhale) and scream like a chimp (exhale).

I have run several "have a heart trappers" off from my land and they all think it is mean of me. They are finished with the problem, but give it to some one else. Last woman i told her to just leave it in the trap and I would be right back. Returned from my truck with my gun and she almost had a heart attack. She loaded back up and left immediately!

Might want to check your local laws. In many states, it is illegal to re-locate trapped animals.
Don't want to get caught with a opossum in the trunk and several hundred dollars of fines.
Cool picture!

It's not against the law here. You just can't cross the county line and you must move them at least 40 acres.
