Haz, Very nice. Did you cut the frame yourself? 10 years ago I got the timber frame bug and spent a year to cut the frame for our 3000 sq ft house, (weekends and after work). A couple years later I did the same thing for my 1000 sq ft garage. This winter I plan to cut the frame for a 1000 sq ft outbuilding.

John,

Thanks! I read your description a few years ago of how you cut and built your own house. It really inspired me.

I only cut some of the joists myself. I did do some carving on one of the beams which I will post soon. I wanted to cut the whole frame myself, but, unfortunately I had a time constraint for getting the house done. Our very good friend owns the timberframe company and he and his crew came to PA from Maine to raise the frame. I took off work and was one of the crew and it was one of the best weeks I have spent in my life. My wife and seven children were there every day and kept us well supplied with coffee and hot chocolate and snacks. It took only 3 1/2 days to get it done. Once we move in, I hope to build a small barn out of some Hemlock trees on the property. I would like to do that whole project myself.

Haz
