Thanks for the comments!

Eddie, I'll post a few of the inside later today or this weekend.

LarryRB, You have a good eye. My wife and I custom designed the house but Jim Barna Log Systems is the log producer. After looking at so many log home companies and magazines we can now guess who the manufacturer is just from looking a the log, corner and design styles (about 80% of the time anyway). /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Egon, we general contracted the house and did some of the work but I can't say we built it ourselves. My hats off to you and anyone else that was brave enough (and skilled enough) to do it themselves.

Scott, we used metal mesh to cover all of the wood areas and then put a thin coat of morter over the mesh and the concrete and then stuck the stone directly to the morter. So the metal is only on the top 18" of the stone work (right below the logs).

Here are a few more pics.

Here is a closeup of the corner. We decided to build a low concrete wall out from the house near the down spout so I attached the backhoe and dug out a small trench for the form.

We tinted the morter with black dye so that it would hide any gaps in the stone better than light grey (the natural color of the morter).

The Kioti with bucket forks and a 4x8 sheet of plywood worked great as a high platform for the stone.

Looks nice! Is this a DIY project that you would recommend if you didn't have an "expert" to show you how? How long did the professional help you? Just get you started or during the entire project? One last ?, about how long did it take to do your stone work? Thanks for the info!

looks great! I did my full basement, front porch and a full length wall on the south side dining room using L & S stone... about 1400 square feet. I spend about one year doing it while working a full time job. (used the hay wagon for working off the ground, worked great). Figured I saved about 15,000 dollars. Professionals wanted 14.50 a square foot to install. That was my sweat equaty. Hardest part was laying wire and cement on the non block areas. hope it last forever?
