And a fine looking porch it is. Curious as to the size of your house. The plans I'm hoping to build are a 24' x 24' "high post" cape. All I have is are the timberframing plans so looking for ideas as far as room layout. You would think with all the plans available online I would be able to find something with the same dimensions but it is surprisingly hard.

Depth of frost for Connencticut is 42 inches. This means that the bottom of the footing (or pier) has to be 42 inches below finished grade. It doesn't matter if it is virgin ground or trucked in fill as long as the total depth is there.
