" am in the market for a framing nailer as well and am leaning towards a coil nailer like the Porter-Cable COIL350 or the COIL250 . Why? The coil nailers look a lot easier to handle than the stick nailers."
With stick nailers you have the advantage of being able to easily carry the nails with you. Stick nailers are typically better balanced. Coil nailers and nails tend to cost a little more and the nails take a whole bunch more storage space. Stick nailers with the more angled head tend to be easier to toe nail with. On the otherhand, coil nailers have their plus's. More nail capacity, bigger nail heads, shorter bodies and for some reason a little better depth of drive control. I have both and find myself reaching for the stick nailer a little more frequently, but it may well be that I can switch out nails from 8's to 16's etc., so much quicker.
