Last year on Valentines day, I bought my wife a new weed sprayer and a gallon of Round up. She was happy.

For Valentine's day present. Told my wife that is unable to drive much due to age ,vision and polio handicap issues. That it was her day to go to large shopping center in city 45 miles away.
Stores open at 10 am and we were there to shop. She in looking and trying on dresses and items women wear showed me that every thing in clothing store her size . was shoddy, cheap, missed sewed or some color Ladies did not wear.
2 hours of looking and no purchase she gave up going to store after clothing stores being disappointed .

If this is happening to clothing and also farming equipment, automobiles and I cannot find work clothes that wear ant length of time. what is the future going to be.

So noon time and mentioned going to a upscale restaurant . She said No lets go to familiar place didn't want to look and be dissatisfied with what they were serving.

Anyone else having this problem in keeping wife happy with the holiday's . suggested stopping at Wal-Mart. she just looked at me said wasn't that desperate in getting a new dress . so we returned home.

Got the woman a really good battery operated chainsaw for Christmas a year back She was thrilled! She was having trouble starting the small saw she used to cut stove wood. On the other hand, the look the mother-in-law gave me was priceless.

My father told me to never get your wife an appliance, vacuum cleaner, sweeper, cleaning equipment, etc... for any birthday or holiday. I asked why not? He said "Just take my word for it." and laughed.

So my wife and I have been together for about 39 years. This last Christmas, I ask her what she'd like for a gift? She says a small shop vac..... I've avoided the trap for almost 4 decades. I can hear my dad in the back of my head... don't do it. So I do it anyway..... ....... she liked it! I think it's the first time I ever got her something she actually asked for, rather than something I thought she'd like.

My wife appreciates anything I get for her, as long as it's accompanied with flowers and a card. Can't forget the card - I did early on in our marriage and it was very easy to she how disappointed she was.

I know of a guy who threw a surprise birthday party for his wife's 40th. For the theme, he chose "the death of youth." Yes, he arranged a lovely funeral setting in the living room complete with black flowers and a child's casket. When she came home, all her friends yelled surprise, she paused a moment, and left without saying a word -- and never came back. I can kind of understand her on that one.
