Some places that offer free shipping only offer it on certain items also.
I had a similar shipping issue a few months ago. It was not a free shipping issue but was a paid for shipping issue. I recently bought a new tractor. A few days after I got the tractor I decided to order the factory service manual so I called the selling dealer to place the order for me. He called me back and said I had to pre-pay for the manual. He gave me the price and said he'd have to add the shipping cost. I thought OK, that way I wouldn't have to make a trip to pick it up and gave him my CC#. He already had my mailing address. I waited about 10 days and no manual arrived so I called the dealer to check the status of my order. He did and said it was shipped. The next day he calls and said my service manual had arrived at his store. I asked why it was there since I paid for the manual including shipping it should have been shipped to me. He said that the shipping cost I paid was to him not me. My blood pressure hit the roof. He said he could send it to me but would have to charge me shipping (again). The reason I ordered it and paid for shipping was so I didn't have to make a 90 mile trip (45 miles each way) to the dealership to get it.
This dealer also does not offer any LS items (hats, shirts, coffee cups, etc.) either. Needless to say, He is NOT my dealer any longer. I now have several other dealers to buy parts from.

Just NUTS I guess they dont really need customers.Glad you got the manual either way.If i felt it was shipping to my door. and the dealers attitude i would have called the CC com pany and disputed the payment that ties the money up for a few months.You didnt get what you had bargained for.

He may have made money on the tractor sale to me and I could have done that (called the CC company to tie things up) but figured he lost all future sales to me plus any recommendation by me to others looking for a tractor. I have already referred 6 people to another dealer (2 have purchased tractors) and my new dealer is more than happy to get my business, recommended by me buyers, do any service or warranty work I may need and order parts for me without having to pre-pay. I also did Email LSTractor about the selling dealers way of doing business and was replied to within hours that they were looking into it and I was not the only customer who contacted them.

Ordered a 'face seal' by phone for my Terramite's steering box, about the size of a quarter and $60-some for just the part. Came to my mailbox in a full-sized flat bubble-wrap envelope for another $14 & change.
Bought computer parts online from Calif & paid an extra $1 for UPS vs Fed-Ex shipping. Delivered by Fed-Ex and charged the extra buck anyway. Truck came from another town 40 mi N of here despite there being a Fed-Ex air terminal and distribution center not 15 min from my place.
Bought an ultra-sonic cleaner from a company 50 mi from here on a Monday, "Fed-Ex shipping". Of course Fed-Ex tracking info, as I've come to expect, was finally available after I received the ticket from the mail lady on Friday & no sooner. Turns out it was taken across town and sat for 48 hrs before being trucked to Ohio and dropped in the mail. Yeah, wouldn't fit in the mailbox so I had to take the yellow slip to the PO to pick it up the following Monday. Thanks, Fed-Ex!
btw: MidwayUSA is touting their new delivery system. They have always given me great service via UPS. Can't wait to see if it's better or just different.

Ace Hardware does the 'free shipping to the store' thing as well. I don't have a problem with that as long as they clearly state it.

I was a Amazon " Prime " member for 2 years. I paid there slightly higher prices ( 10 to 15 % ) because they deliver fast. But then they added tax. End of prime for me. E bay will usually be 10 to 20% cheaper than Amazon. If you use there included movies and Kindle book club its still a good deal at 99 bucks.
With a $30 Curio & Relic license I have had several guns shipped directly to my home...
...but back to the topic at hand, I don't think they're really is any "free" shipping - we're paying for it somehow. Always read the fine print and buyer beware...
...I do like it, though, when I see the price of the item, and it includes the shipping cost in it - that's just a personal preference though...

Shipping always has to be considered into the total price, especially on fleabay but there's been times on Harbor Fright where one week he price is 69.95 +6.96 shipping and the next week it's the same price with free shipping. It appears that they eat the shipping but as others have said, we ultimately pay for it all.

Same here. I don't mind as long as I know up front. WalMart does the same thing, but the store is nearby, and not much trouble to pick up.
Amazon Prime is not a bad deal, especially if you use the movie service and now the "free" music service. The "free" 2 day shipping is nice, as we order a lot of things for the home and office thru Amazon.
