We went through that ourselves, back '98 or '99 when I was traveling some for work. I would bring in a weeks worth of pellets but wife still had to feed the beast daily... We put in an Enviro Gas EG40 (with propane conversion from dealer). We also put it on thermostat so the house stays nice. Just this last year, had to replace the switch (on-off-thermostat) and currently have extra wire running across floor to thermostat because the thermocouple/pile are worn out and need replaced. I ordered the whole pilot/thermocouple/thermopile/ignitor for less than $100 and will replace this summer. Pretty cheap maintenance for ~20 years.
