I'd sure suspect they might at minimum want the wheels to be salvagable? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Actually, for the $50 if it gets to that, we also have a neighbor that has a wrecked car near their house that car folks will also take, so for $25 each.. in my view..it's a steal.even if it is worth $500 to the taker to take them!!

We just want it/them gone in effort to maintain land & minimize eyesores.

I didn't think of taking photo of neighbors car..his son took the movable car and hit an imovable tree with it. Car lost. As I understand it, recently rebuilt transmission in it..engine (was) fine..just nice big "U" in front grill..maybe 18/24 inches wide.

Certainly worth something to those who salvage things like that.

It’s a good thing your down in Tennessee. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif My neighbor would have to add it to his collection of fine old equipment. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

My thoughts exactly on the bridge Chuck. That's how I built the two bridges at my house was on old truck bed frames.

Cowboydoc,

I think I got the idea from you a while ago...or maybe it was some other TBN bridge builder! I finally decided a culvert made sense for my ditch, but if I had that truck on my land I'd at least make a foot bridge out of the beams.

Richard,
Since you are in the Knoxville area, there is a junk yard (or "Auto Salvage Yard") in Maryville that specializes in trucks, preferably 1 ton and less (which means that they probably wouldn't pay anything for it since it is larger than 1 ton). But they might be interested in picking it up on a no-pay, no-fee basis based on the value of the scrap metal. Worth a phone call...

Is it possible to highlight its potential value as an antique? I think that they are also interested in dabbling in antiques. The owner is a guy I worked with in the TN ANG before he retired. Hedricks Garage (865) 984-9109

It could have been me Chuck. I've given advice for building bridges from truck beds, telephone poles, and culverts. I've pretty much used whatever was available at the time in building mine on the different properties!

Thanks Kelvin..Called them and he keeps his limit at 1 ton.

He said this was too big for them. Guess it's off to Sweetwater!

Not that anyone is too interested in the demise of this truck..but I put it on ebay with no reserve, minimum bid of 40 to take care of advertising expense.

Today, I got an email from a local (60 miles away) that said he wanted it to convert it into a farm trailer!!!

I thought that was a fabulous idea. I suppose it will be very sturdy for that.

I just emailed him back..hopefully, he will actually show up /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif If not..off to the truck cemetary in the sky.

Richard,

I noticed your earlier reference about shipping it off to Sweetwater. Please tell me they haven't defaced my beautiful little home town with a big old nasty junkyard! Or maybe you were thinking of sinking it in the Lost Sea, which used to be just Craighead cave?

Well Chuck, I WILL tell you they haven't defaced your beautiful little town. That said..I'm a transplant and as such, may not be TOO sure what the original face looked like. As I currently see it, it is a very charming town.
