I've got a Delta miter saw that I had left tilted over the winter. When I went to use it the other day it felt as if the shaft lock was engaged /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I was able to confirm that was not the case and suspect something in the brake circuit but it is locked no matter what I do. (Large rubber mallets have already been applied - ng /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif) There is about 1/8 inch of rotational play in the 10" blade but that's the best I can do. At one point I got it so I could rotate the balde partially by hand but as soon as I apply power it locks up. Anyone have any ideas or have had something similar?

I have two of those saws but have never experienced such a problem...you have likely checked to see that nothing is binding the blade inside the upper housing.

I would remove the blade for safety reasons and then rethread the arbor nut on and try turning the motor using a wrench. If the saw worked okay the last time you used it I doubt if leaving it tilted would cause any problem. Any chance it got wet enough to rust the motor?
