Freezer on the Bottom Refrigerators

I have the GE French Door/Bottom Freezer. Cold Water is inside of Left French Door.

No complaints with it, about a year old.

It's interesting to read about all the discussion / complaints about the ice makers on the door. I have never had one like that. With all the complaints, there is no way I ever would want one. It bad enough that these appliances are being made not to last. I wouldn't want to add on to that a feature that by far is the most likely to break down. It's too easy to make ice in our freezer. I don't need an unreliable machine to add complexity to the task.

I guess this is just one of those things that if you've never had it, you won't miss it.

I would definitely miss mine if it stopped working. Mine failed once in the 12 years we've had the fridge. The timer gear spindle broke. It's been running solid since I replaced it. Extra part to break, sure but so is A/C and power windows in a car but I still want them.
