French Drain Project

Well,
Went down to the local quarry this morning. Big differece in pricing. As I posted earlier, 3/4" and Item was quoted at $42 a yard by a local everything guy. The quarry is $17.60/yard for 3/4" and $16.35 for Item4. All with additional delivery charges and a minimum of 25 yards. I can definitely use 25 yards of 3/4" but only need a couple of yards of Item 4. They told me I could take a scoop in the bed of my 3/4 ton pickup. Only about 2-3 miles, not many hills. I'll take a scoop and unload with the BX FEL to start then empty out with the loadhandler.

That sounds about the same as what I paid. I got 20 yards of 3/4" washed granite delivered for $366.00.
They sold by the ton, not the yard. I told them I wanted 20 yards and they delivered just over 29 tons.

Vic,
The fellow at the quarry told be it's about 1.3 tons to a yard of stone. So, your delivery is in the ballpark. I need 20 yards and the guy said I would get a little over 25 tons. I think they just load up the truck and you pay for what they give you. Beats the alternative of making 20-30 trips with a pickup.

I am in the process of a similar project to move some standing water spots on my property. Here is a mixture of instructions I found online on how to set the elevation and install French Drains...if anyone is interested.
