Friend of ours got caught up in PTO shaft !!

I tell ya ... one can never be too safe. I preach to my grandson daily about the dangers of equipment ... and we use alot of it.

Fatigue is also a player, lately our irrigation is running non stop and sometimes 2, 3, or 4 a.m. we are resetting and its hard to wake up, too get your thoughts together ... we have a buddy system where we do it together and remind each other of things... neither one of us are allowed to go it ourselfs during the night

A simple mistake can kill you... or dismember you... just like driving a tractor to another field. I tell him all the time "When you pull out look both ways and then look again"

Hey Blueriver, The buddy system is a great idea. I know it works because it saved my but a few times when I was a firefighter. It pays to have a good buddy.
My heart and prayers go out to gentleleman this post is about.

I don't enjoy this type of post but read them with great attention.

Lets all be careful out there! Especially us weekend wariors![

My neighbour once got tangled in the PTO shaft of a trailer backhoe with which he loaded muck at a contractor, its 40 years ago. He stepped over it, his coveralls got caught and he fought the PTO shaft with his hands on his knees, to keep his marital equipment off that shaft.. Luckily the MF 35 stalled before him. Usually a slightly more powerful McCormick would power that digger, just not this day because the tractor was needed at a different job that day. That was his luck... But he did have some pretty nasty burns on his thighs.
