I don't know about all you 2210 owners but when mine was delivered it took a white knuckle grip to move the throttle lever. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Well I went to JDPARTS and got the explosion that showed how the throttle lever worked and then set aside a little time (about 1hr) to disassemble the required parts to get at that double nut arrangement that controls the tension on the throttle lever.
Adjusted it to my specs-2 fingers is all it takes now. What a diffference in driveability. You can actually "blip" the throttle now. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Don't ask how this works but it's just a much friendlier tractor now. Also I changed the idle rpms from 1400 to 1200. That's a set screw adjustment on the cable to the injectors.
I can't say enough about how much I love my 2210 buddy!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm amazed at the horsepower-tilling with a JD 450 and it's idling (1400 rpm) most of the time-no effort here! The 4 WD makes it a real tractor - when the rear wheels start to give out push down on the orange lever and away you go. I mow about 5 acres-some nice and level ( I built an RC plane runway-3 acres) and the rest around the vegetable and flower gardens, fruit trees and our ranch house. I had a 345 which I thought was a great tractor but the 2210 IS a GREAT tractor. We do a fair amount of home landscape work so the FEL is a real help-no more tugging around the cart!! Well as you can tell I'm really pleased with my Green Buddy! Also have the 2 stage snowblower as we get our fair share of the white stuff here. Now that will make that diesel snort!
Just thought I'd pass on my experiences so far. Delivered Jan 24, 2004 and have 50 hours on the tach-NO LEAKS!!

Great to hear about your new tractor.

I have to go in and do the opposite adjustment with my Deere 4300 throttle, as it wants to slip back in RPM when tilling, and doesn't want to hold position. I did that once when it was new (1999) and now need to adjust it again. Gee, maybe I should see if that is under warranty. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Will be interested in hearing about the snoblower, and if the 2210 really does have to snort. Hold off a bit when praying for that snow storm. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Genoa,
Congrats on your Tractor!
Quick question for you, about your 450 tiller. Do you use Imatch with it? If not, did you have to cut your driveshaft? I have noticed in sales information that even with an LX4 Rotary cutter, Deere recommends using Imatch to get proper driveline length. (or cut the driveshaft to proper length) If left too long, it can damage the rear pto when raised and pushed into the pto at the tractor end.

How do you feel your fuel economy is on your new tractor?

I'm just wondering why deere has the idle specs set for 1400 or so. I know at 1400 they recommend that you actually run the tractor at a slightly higher RPM to keep deposits down.

I got my 2210 last August. When my neighbor got his 2210 this spring there were two changes that I noticed. 1. the steering wheel was different, and 2. the throttle lever was alot easier to operate.
Mine is pretty tight, but not white knuckle tight. There must not be any QC in the factory on this item. Maybe the dealer actually noticed that his was really tight and they adjusted it for him. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif On the other hand mine probably wasn't tight enough for them to notice, or bother with.

I'll definately have to look in to making this adjustment on mine, if for no other reason than to get the idle rpm down to where it's supposed to be. Mine too is up around 1300-1400, and I think the owners manual states that it should be 1250. (relying on memory here).

Dutch445,
I don't use an Imatch with the tiller. You are absolutley correct about shortening the tiller PTO shaft-in fact JD has a service bulletin telling you exactly how much to shorten BOTH halves-2 1/4 inches. I had read something about this on a post from DocsKnotInn and broken PTO shaft so I mentioned it to the dealer who in turn looked it up on their Deere site. That's where we found the spec. I don't use an Imatch but I did build a simple 4 caster dollie to roll that heavy critter around on to align it with the 3PT hitch arms on the tractor. Works great-takes very little time to attach and detach the tiller. It's a nice heavy duty tiller that works great with the 2210.

My throttle isn't that tight, but you certainly cannot "blip" it. Something to look into. I have been very happy with my 2210, too, great little tractor. I also have a 335 which is great for mowing but no comparison for moving dirt or pulling ground-engaging attachments. You can't beat the torque and fuel economy of the diesel.

I think mine idles high, too....always sounds "buzzy". Guess I'll add that to the list.

I'll second that. I have the Frontier tiller. I definately had to shorten the shaft (no Imatch either). I learned the hard way. The shaft was basically bottomed out so when I hit some rocks, it bent the tiller's top frame and 3 pt. arms. I straightened them out on a press, and welded in stiffeners. I then reassembled the tiller correctly as per the manual, which brought it in even closer to the tractor. Now it's very solid, and no chance of jamming the shaft.

Yup when I got mine they didnt cut the shaft. I have never measured them but both sides are stubs compared to the origional length. The dealer forgot I had the iMatch and did not tell me I needed to cut the shafts. Live and learn. They took care of everything under warranty. I have never had any trouble since using the tiller with the iMatch. In fact I can't imagine not having a quick hitch. I till some pretty rough terrain. No gardens here. Just food plots in the woods. So I would guess its about as tough as it gets on a tiller.
