Just want to add that my cousin had a JD4300 with the 48 backhoe that broke in half at ~1000 hours and ~2000 hours then he traded it for a JD110 which has a full frame. The 48 backhoe has a subframe but I don't think compact or ag tractors are really made for full time backhoe work. Construction type backhoes are built much diffrently.

After seeing the pictures I still can't emagine this happening. When using the backhoe the rear tires should always be on the ground and both out riggers down.This should take most of the twisting out of the drive line. I bent a dipper boom on a ford when the pressure relief valve stuck and higher pressure cause me to bend the boom hydraulic cylinder ram, then the boom arm. There are a lot of items that could have happened here.As long as the factory will fix it under warrenty and no one got hurt it was a good day.

Ouch. That's a testament to using the tractor's hydraulics versus a PTO
pump. If you use the tractor hydraulic system, you are protected by TWO
relief valves, one on the tractor and one on the hoe valve.

If your wheels are on the ground how do the outriggers do much in the way of stabilizing your rig. with the tires on the ground there is very little weight on the out riggers. I posted a topic a while back about pushing the tractor forward with the BH bucket when digging a trench, other people said they do that as well. Kinda gets me worried know after seeing this
