That is a really nice 10 point John Bud. I went out there yesterday to set up the trail camera so hopefully I can catch some pics of some decent ones. Also got some pictures of the seeded plot but it looks pretty much like the last pictures, with no growth. So much for instant gratification, hehe.

That's on the menu for deer season....

John,

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to see such an amazing animal. You must be managing your animals and letting them reach maturity. One of the biggest problems that I see here in East Texas, is that people seem to shoot the first one that they see, and end up killing allot of spikes and two -three year olds. The genetics and nutrition is here for them to get big, but it's very rare for that to happen.

It takes allot of disipline to not shoot a decent buck, and let him grow into a super one like in your picture. He's about as good as he's gonna get, plus he's had 4 or 5 years of breeding. Everything about him says he's a keeper!!!!

Eddie,
I couldn't agree more. I am not planning on shooting anything but a nice 7 point or greater, or a nice doe to put in the freezer. There are plenty of does around, but I would like to get some bigger bucks. Problem is, if you don't have like-minded people around they can ruin it for the whole bunch. Won't stop me from trying to do my part, but it makes it harder. That is why we are trying to give them reason to stay on our property and not leave for other areas.

Eddie,

He's not "the big one".

Here's some other pics. The "large" one is not from my land, but from a town close by. Not too bad.

The dead deer pics were from our harvest last year. Flat tops all. (I'm the good looking one)

JB,
Nice harvest! You ate well last winter. Over what time frame were those deer taken? Gun season or bow? I am hoping to get out tomorrow for the first time of the year.

That was the first Sunday of gun season. Day and a half of hunting.

We had taken just 2 doe bow hunting and no bucks, plus there were 2 does that were arrowed at dark, but the wolves got them. One was left to bleed out overnight and the other had wolves on her blood trail quick. Trust me, you don't want to follow into wolves on a blood trail. They are the only thing in the woods on 4 legs that scares me, they will attack people.

JB,
Where in WI do you live? I originally lived outside of Milwaukee. Now live outside of Detroit but the property I play on is a bit north of Ann Arbor. We don't have any wolves that I know of, have some coyotes, but not wolves. I would tend to agree though, wolves I wouldn't mess with, and large feral pigs, I have heard they are nasty. Eddie you don't seem to have any fear of the swine. And I checked the regs, anyone with a hunting license of any type can, actually is encouraged, to shoot a pig if they see one while hunting.

Toro,

Mid-western part of the state. The land is in 3 spots. Mostly up north in Sawyer county, but some is on the edge of Peppin and Eau Claire counties. If you look on the WI DNR web site and search for bear dog / wolf attacks there are 2 places where they are most common with large agressive packs. Naturally, I have plots in about the center of each ... 80 in one and 160 in the other.

Since this thread has kinda turned into a "post your trail cam pics", I thought I'd post one. I think all us deer hunters are getting excited; it's our time of the year.

Jerry,
Great picture, even got the velvet falling off. What kind of trail camera is that, it is nice that it tells you moon, temp, all that stuff.

I still hold that this is a tractor project link, just need to get some growth from the planting so I can post those pics, hehe. Wouldn't want the thread to be labeled as "mis-classified".

I have yet to get out hunting, too busy this week, hope to get out a couple times next week. And then shortly to post a picture of my successful hunt.
