Where do I begin.....
Specifically, read 5th paragraph.

Open ended interpretation allows State/Fed DOT officers to inspect/enforce/police applicable regs on truck and/or trailer over 10,000lbs., NOT limited to vehicles over 26,000lbs. Word is, from Ky State trooper buddy, they're about to start ramping up enforcment. Nothing has changed specifically, except for more effort to police 10,000 to 26,000lb vehicles in the future. (Ramped up enforcement in 2012)

Michigan started this about 3 years back. We do have an exemption for personal use

I hesitate to say this....but
When I'm rolling down the highway and have four chains and boomers holding down my machine and a guy passes me with his tractor and box blade with the front wheel turned into the side rails and no chains???
I am ready for some enforcement.

Your link took me to CSA2010. Nothing new there, just an invitation to good drivers to seek alternative employment and leave people with "nothing to lose" behind the wheel.

At least half of the small equipment trailers I see on the roads in my area are obviously unsafe. I would say the police have plenty of people they can target before they have nothing better to do than inspect rigs that do appear to be safe.

Vehicle enforcement has been working between mt Washington and fern creek every day, I saw they had someone stopped today with a mini excavator on a trailer that was in no way meant to carry it (looked like trailer was going to snap in half) and it was not chained or secured in any way!!!

Same in KY.

It seems it was in part the lawn mower men that triggered the law getting involved locally. One would get caught then after they got legal would turn in the other ones.

I never understood people that do not tie down in a way that would make any officer happy. Chains are super but adding a bright wide yellow strap puts in all CAPS Mr. LEO I do respect your job.

One is up a creek without a paddle if things go wrong and no attempt to secure can be found.

"Nothing new" OTHER THAN (as I said) the plan to ENFORCE CSA2010 to the letter of the law in regards to 10,000 to 26,000 vehicles in upcoming months. "Good drivers" don't hit the road with trailers loaded with unsecured cargo, bad brakes, improper lighting, ect....THAT is what will be the target on "less than 26000 trucks/trailers.

Yep....I travel that stretch of road almost daily. And that is the sort of "load" they're going to ramp up enforcement on.

Ky has an exemtion for "private hauling" regarding certain DOT regs, but even personal use vehicles are required to meet SAFETY requirements, and are now being inspected by Commercial Vehicle Enforcement when observed operating on INTERSTATE/STATE highways.
