Kenny,
The feet on the 485 are reversible, just flip them up or down for road of dirt. You can even put rubber pads on one side.

Rob

Yes, that is a good design...they should have incorporated that into the small hoes as well.

The new machine looks great Chris:thumbsup:

Check out this thread for Feet Ideas: All 2520 owners with 46 Backhoe ( Flippads ) - TractorByNet.com

I am beginning to wonder whether Kennyd is a real person or actually some kind of Hal-like humanized supercomputer that supplies a continuous and instantaneous wealth of tractor knowledge upon command.

Or maybe he's an all knowing superhero and there's some sort of Batman light signal that appears in the sky in the shape of a tractor whenever one of us helpless souls appears in need of being saved from the evil demons arising from the soil below. Is it a bird? A plane? No, it's Tractor Man!

Thanks Kenny...again...

EDIT: I looked up the cost of the feet for the 485 - about $550 per pair. Ouch. It looks like it's project time again, unless I can get Chris2520 to sell me some.

This is a comment from someone with a picture of a green blood transfusion!

It's not a cheap BH, let's leave it at that.

You made quick work of that tree/stump!

I don't want to rain on the parade, but one thing I was told about using these CUTS with back hoe, was not to raise the machine off the ground.
Puts undo stress on the machine, should just use stabilizers to stabilise the machine, with at least 1 tire on the ground.

A few years ago some of these CUTS were breaking in half at the main castings, that's why they started requiring full undercarriage.
That was a few years ago so things might of changed.

JB

Like this example. Keep up the good work with your 2520!

Man that is hard to look at. It reminds me of a post some time ago where a guy's garage burnt down and took his brand new JD with it. Those pictures left a mark and this split JD will leave a mark on me too.

I'd like to read up on the history of that when I have a chance. I wonder if the cause was really the lack of a subframe (design flaw) or was it some form of misuse and what JD did to correct the design, if anything, other than adding a subframe.

ensoll I'm with you I would like to read that post if there was any.
I' m no mechanic, but recently I was comparing a 2320 frame with a 2520. The 2320 frame seemed to run straight through from the front to the rear while the 2520 frame looked like a two piece frame joined by the transmission housing.

Hi NC,

Not really. I have been needing more lift capacity for the fork supplies but otherwise the 2305 was great. Needless to say, having more machine has inspired me to take on bigger projects, hence the oak stump.

It's comical though, I used to be able to prance
around the property with the 2305 and not leave much of a mark on anything where this 2520 seems to be leaving a path of destruction wherever it goes. I'm not finding it to be very lawn friendly. Oh well, ha ha.

Oh, and it all happened a couple of weeks ago after several weeks of research and shopping.
