The manual says super udt or 80/90 weight gear oil. This seems like two totally different fluids and I just figured the tractor veterans on this board could tell me if one was better than the other for this application.
I stuck with the Super UDT. Seems to handle it really well, and that is what was in it when I got it. Didn't seem to be any reason to switch to anything else, although my dealer did say I could go to 80-90 if I wanted. It gets fairly cold around here in the winter, and the SuperUDT handles the chill better.
It's probably been at least a year and a half ago that we discussed this at some length. It really does seem odd that Kubota would recommend either/or with two oils that are so different. I don't think anyone ever came up with a definitive answer (thicker oil may provide better lubrication in some places while the thinner oil might get into tight places the thicker oil didn't reach?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif). Anyway, the only ones I know of came originally with UDT or Super UDT, so I decided to stay with that.
