Front Axle Pivot Lock

This recent thread Stepped off with snowmobile on loader, almost tipped over got me wondering why tractors with loaders don't have a pivot lock to minimize the tip factor when using the loader. As it is, the tractor has the stability of a tractor with tricycle front gear. With a lock engaged to prevent the front axle from pivoting, the tipping force would be spread out to the width of the front wheels. I googled around a bit on TBN, but didn't get any hits. I'm thinking this is either a brilliant idea or a stupid question!

The tractor would constantly be lifting front tires off of the ground on anything that isn't perfectly level.

The pivot is the only means to keep all 4 tires planted on uneven ground. It has no suspension like a car or truck. Just be sure the back end weighs more than the front.

How many degrees or freedom in the Lombardini or Goldoni articulateds? They seem to work well.

Yes - I get why there's a pivot for normal use. I'm thinking of something you'd engage for, say lifting a near capacity load high, as onto a truck or similar. Just thinking out loud - rough terrain forklifts & telehandlers have a hydraulic leveler so the lift can be plumb on the uneven ground.
