Loader front bucket level indicator

/ front bucket level indicator #11
I have some vision in one eye. I find ways to get things done. I can run the tractor fine just can't see if bucket is level. I try and not let my blindness get the best of me. Have to keep moving on . I just can't see well enough to drive on the roads.

I've got good eye sight, both eyes and I can't tell if my bucket is level. I need to add a leveling rod.

One could be made by installing limit switch and beeper on loader arm. I do not know of anything commercially available. Another option would be to turn a light on and off on the dash. That way the beeping would not irritate you.

Good luck and have fun with your new tractor!

Agreed !
The Pits ,,,great to hear you aren't letting this get you down.. Our daughter is 1 or 2 points from being legally blind without her glasses .. See could not see our grandsons lying on the floor without glasses.
OK now ,if you can get a hold of some of the AT&T or Ohio Bell employees they might be able to help you getting info or The Telephone Pioneers of America .
I never helped wired or design items, but we had beeping softballs, beeping cones to play horse shoes. a beeping sound for blind child to shoot a target with a bb gun.
Hope some of this info helps . Like PapaPerk I think a flashing light going to solid color or just a bright light when level would be better than a beeping sound plus in noisy areas you might not be able to hear the beeping sound.

thanks i'll come up with something soon , just trying to figure out how I would set everything up. need some kind of switch. I talked to a guy from ADT I was thinking a door contact would work but he said that they are not weatherproof. i'll keep plugging away and get something to work . sorry to hear about your daughter , i'm legally blind in one eye WITH GLASSES I take them off can't see a thing. been this way for 33 yrs i'm used to it . thanks for the info

Bakerg, that is just slick! If you put a little jingle bell on the end of the rod, you would hear it when the rod jumps in or out of the the notch. Thanks for the great idea, I think I'll make womething similar.
Bye for now,

Troy

Why couldn't you just use a simple door contact wired to a relay to control a light or beeper. There has to be two moving parts on the loader that pass close enough to get a magnetic contact to trigger.

You could also rig a mercury switch from an old thermostat but it would stay "on" even past the level point. It would also trigger in your tractor wasn't level.

I was thinking the same thing until I was told that the DOOR CONTACT was not for outdoors and not weatherproof.

I wouldn't be the least bit concerned at $3 bucks a pop. Heck, throw a plastic enclosure aroud the main body or a little heat shrink. It would take a lot to interfere with the magnet. I would be more concerned with UV than moisture.

Build it, patent it, and we'll all buy it!

I have thinking about making a level indicator using a reverse magnetic switch. I happen to have a switch sitting on my work bench now. The wired switch would be positioned when bucket is level. The reverse actuator would be on a swinging plumb bob bracket. This way you can find level not just on the ground but in any height position.

I have just been thinking about it. I need to make a model and see if it would be practical. Then see if it would work on the bucket. A light or horn, controlled by a relay, would indicate level. Light out or horn off would be out of level. May work, may not.

was thinking of the same thing. I've been looking at some proximity switches and maybe useing a light , I think the horn would drive me crazy . Some people use the rod method but my vision is just not good enough. My son and I was looking at the bucket last night and we are thinking of mounting the proximity switche as low as possible so no brackets would be in the way . i'm sure we will come up with something . thank all of you for your help.
