Well this was anticlimatic! My guard finally came in after the dealer had it UPS'd. Seems like either the wrong kind kept coming in or it was not put on the truck.
Anyway, I stopped by the dealer and there it was, finally. All they did was cut off the metal so it is only held by the two front verticle bolts just like the one parts guy suggested. Everyone got a big laugh out of that.
At least it is their dime if something fails.
