I have a 2009 Case Maxxum 115 with a 750 loader. The loader has always dropped or leaked down when the engine is turned off and parked. The drop rate is about 2 inches per hour. Loader valve has been replaced once with no change. Dealer says that according to Case, this is an acceptable rate. I am having trouble buying that answer. Would appreciate any info. Tractor is still under warranty.

Why would you leave loader up. To be safel lower loader when parking tractor.

Yup. Totally normal and within spec.

To check for cyl leakage, install a needle valve in the lift retract circuit. Open the valve and lift the arms, and then close down the needle by turning right. If the lift arms leak down any, the cyl seals are leaking. If the fluid is bypassing around the seals or piston nut, the pressure should equalize between the cylinders and either side of the piston, it should stop. If the valves have work port relief, they could be leaking,

Even though the valve was rebuilt, it could still be leaking. Yes, a certain number of drops per minutes is allowed, to call it normal.

It is not totally clear why some valves/cylinders, can hold a boom in the air for weeks, and on some valves you can watch them drop. You have to either accept it or fix it, or try and do a work around, like needle valves, etc.

Some people try pilot operated check valves.

How is the curl holding up. Is the bucket wanting to "dump" as well as lower. If not, and you have quick disconnects, you could try swapping the lift and dump hoses and see if the problem goes to the dump cylinders. If it does, it is the valve. If it is still the loader it is more than likely the cylinders.

And as others have said, a certain amount is tolerable. And 2" per hour sounds tolerable to me. Given that you probabally have ~130" lift height, it would tale almost 3 days to be on the ground.

Two inches an hour is well within tolerence. I'd still bet on the cylinders leaking more then the valve. How many hours on this unit and what do you use it for?

We used to build valves and cylinders that would hold loaders up for weeks. Now we can't, so leakdown tolerance specifications were developed and published. It isn't better, but it's called progress.

The leakage is far more likely to be in the cylinders than the valve.

Thanks for all the replies. It seems from everyones opinions, my tractor and loader are performing within factory specs. I was always under the thinking that if a loader dropped while idle something was not right. I guess like everything else, things just aren't what they used to be. Even my dealer replaced the loader valve only to find out that these new tractors have some allowable drop. This tractor is used for a number of functions, dirt work, moving hay, shredding, lifting with pallet forks. plowing, etc. A general purpose farm tractor. Thanks again for the replies.

Nope, it's the nature of the beast to have some leakage. You can look forward to it getting worse with time.

The new cylinders use U-seals and a single one of them is "adequate". Cheaper than mulitple seals that used to be in there.

had my bucket cylinders leak down pretty fast and after taking them apart found the locknut holding the pistons on the rod had backed off and had about 1/8 in play on the rod so oil was leaking between the rod and piston. tightened the locknuts down added some wicking grade loctite and its like new, no leakdown problems.
isolating the problem is as easy as seperating the loader from the tractor, SUPPORT loader in the raised position and disconect hoses if loader stays where you put it after removing the supports your issue is in the tractor valving, if things bleed down to equalize the pressure on both sides of the cylinder of the loader (drop alittle bit then stop after the pressure equalized) its a loader issue. you may have to support the loader to get the hoses hooked up again after the test (to equalize pressure)
