Well the honeymoon is over after only 12 hours of use.

On Saturday fluid began to pour out of the joint in the picture below. It had been seeping slightly.

I took it apart and saw the damage in the joint that you can see in the pictures below. I live about 100 miles from EFC so I called them and they told me that it would be best if I find a machine shop up here and just see if they can fix it. I just got back from the machine shop and they are concerned about the previous repair (weld marks) you can see in the picture below, on the top 1/2 of the joint.

On the upside all of the gears and axles look to be in fine shape.

So my questions are:

  • Can I buy these parts in the U.S. (Used or New) ?
  • If yes, Where? (I am going call Sheaffer's in a minute)
  • Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Bill

Ooh, one more thing;

If the local machine shop is going to do it I need to get them an exploded view of what the joint is suppose to look like. I think the parts manual will work.

Can anyone with a manual confirm that it has that type of detail?

Bill Looking at the parts manual I have for my TL2100 which I believe is the same design there should be a sleeve that extends down at least a couple inches from the upper housing that would give the bearing in the lower housing (final case) something to ride against. Also would allow the seal to do its job.
Maybe your best bet if you go the machine shop route would be to take apart the other side and send it along for them to use as a guide (assuming its still good ). You can also then make sure its not going to have a problem as well. Gerry

I rebuilt this area on my TS1610f and there is a large diameter pivot pin, or short shaft, as Gerry mentions that should slide down into the plain bearing that is press fitted into the lower casting (bronze colored sleeve you can see). So, it almost looks like it has broken off in the lower case, and it's sitting in the plain bearing (brass sleeve)? If that's the case, maybe a shaft can be machined and press fitted into the hole of the upper casting, and then welded around its circumference, or if you can find a used piece from a grey market Iseki dealer like Len or Buck or? To find all of the Iseki parts dealers and the only US distributor in Hawaii, do a search in this forum for Iseki parts. There have been a number of threads listing most of the known suppliers. I got my OEM brionze sleeves fromt eh Hawaii Distributor/dealer.
