front loader question

   / front loader question #11
I have a new LS xr4046h tractor and I am not sure if loader is functioning properly. I cannot curl the bucket and raise the loader at same time nor dump and lower at same time. The joystick does allow for this type of dual operation but only one function will work at a time. It is not a self leveling bucket. I had a Kubota that would perform both functions at same time and that seems to be the norm. I did have dealer install the third function valve for a 4in1 bucket. That also does not seem right. If you close the bucket and then roll the bucket down the jaw falls back open. If you close it again it will stay shut until you reopen and then it happens again the next time it is closed. Not sure if adding the third function valve could have caused the loader operation to change? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this site and I like to figure things out and try to fix them myself (if simple and no money involved) before running back to the dealer. I know it is still under warranty but you can't learn much that way. Other than this it seems to be a nice tractor. Thanks

A 3rd function valve connected to the jaw cyl should open/close and lock in place with no voltage

If your valve was capable of multiple lever action, it should still work.

It doesn't close on its own, it falls open. If I dump the bucket all the way the jaw falls open. I can hit the button and it will close and stay closed until I open it again then close it and dump the bucket again and it will fall open again.( if that makes any since).

When I pull the joystick over and back I can see both actuators on the loader valve move so it would have to be something in the valve then I suspect?

Try closing it, then disconnecting the quick connects and see if it still opens. If it does, it is a bad cylinder. If it doesn't, its a problem in the valve.

I got home and tried the raise/curl-dump/lower at high RPM and it worked. Below 1500 and it would only do one at a time. Once the rain stops here I will hook the 4in1 bucket up and try that. Skeptical that is the problem with that but i will try it and let let you guys know. Thanks for all the responses.

Interesting. I know our BX2660 has a priority valve so steering gets all the flow until you get the engine over 1300RPMs and the pump is pushing enough flow to supply the steering and and have flow leftover.

On my L3240 the backhoe has priority value over the loader. The loader works very slowly when using the backhoe at the same time (really only a useful function with two operators trying to get unstuck). On every tractor I have ever used Kubota, JD and kioti the loader operates both functions at once just very slowly.

Does the steering get priority even if you are not steering? I am sitting still or driving straight for 99% of my loader work.

The LS uses 2 separate pumps, one for the PS and the other for aux.

I suspect you have restrictors in the loader.

Logic says that you should have more flow at higher rpm, and therefore more speed

Yes, but I don't think it's a linear relationship. 1200 to 1600rpm should make a larger gpm increase than going from 2200 to 2600rpm.
