Snowblower Front mount snowblowers - MF 1410 vs 2360.

Well "leonz" your profile says "Super Member" and I agree. Thanks for the work to reach out to the folks behind this attachment and let me know who to contact. I did so and we had a great chat.

It should be noted that the Reist 1000 is a commercial unit, designed to go on a municipal vehicle and work 14 hours a day. With this comes a commercial price that is comparable with what MF wants for the blower-with-sub-frame combo. That is before the Reist is "made" to connect to the front of a tractor. Of course all their units seem to start as 3-pt-hitch attachments.

Regardless, it may be an option, but first I'm on an adventure to find a knowledgable and willing-to-sell-MF dealer in my part of the world. I have now enlisted people within AGCO to help me in this quest.

Thanks again for your efforts!

Hello and good morning mgstevens,

You need to contact MK Martin directly as they purchased all the rights to the Riest snow blowers and snow throwers. I will help you as much as I can as a single stage unit is so much easier to live with and use and is not an energy hog, oink, oink, haha.

Please check your PM's

Hello and good morning Mr. Stevens,

I am glad we clarified things yesterday with regard to the Series 1000 units not being commercial units.
I have add three pictures of the Riest Series 1000 unit as a hydraulic drive unit mounted on a bobcat for you to examine.

They can be ordered with a wider cut also.
A change order for 2 more lifting paddles can be done also allowing the center paddles to discharge snow at a much faster speed.

The track drive snow thrower in the uploaded image is a single stage snow thrower mounted on a track drive remote control unit- being one of my future toys I hope.

Hoping for snow:cool2:

I finally did get a dealer price on just the blower, without the quick-hitch/sub-frame, and while expensive, not much more than Kubota wants for theirs. In the end, I'll likely go for the factory match for the tractor. THe snow gear pays for itself pretty fast with 10,000 sq/ft to clear every snowfall. I'll keep an eye out for a used one for the next 5 months, but be prepared to pony up the $$ by the fall...

Generally speaking, if you're going to order a new one, you will want to have your order placed by August.
Otherwise, you may be stuck in the crush of people ordering a snowblower for their John Deere, Massey or Kubota and end up waiting till January or February to receive your new snowblower...

Yeah, dealer told me there is stock in the region, but that can change. Good advice.

Hello and good morning Mr. Stevens,

I am glad your dealer was finally able to send you a quote.

It will be worth your while to contact Erskine directly to chat with one of the folks that deals only with snow blowers to see how much
a rear to front PTO with carrier bearing and reverser gearbox or reverser chain system will cost ONLY because the single stage MK Martin series
1000 unit will consume much less hydraulic power and fuel and it has a better drive train with no power robbing center mounted worm to spur gear gearbox.
The steel used to construct the single stage units is also thicker as well which adds to more strength in construction and full welds.
I have had nothing and I mean nothing but problems with the 2011 JD/RAD two stage unit I was sold. As I mentioned before the single stage belt drive units
were much more reliable due to the simplicity in their construction using out IHC cub cadet 12 horse lawn tractor in the example as well as the JD 318 with the single stage snow throwers that were also very well built.

Being told that you get what you pay for by a smug john deere dealer does not cut it with me or help the consumer in general as the attachment should not cost hundreds of dollars to repair annually to change V belts or replace the chute and spout.

This is the main reason I suggest the MK Martin/Riest unit to you as it has fewer parts and a simpler drive train. The other added bonus is you can leave the front end loader on to remove snow in closely confined areas and dump it aside to get rid of it later.

I look forward to hearing from you about your eventual purchase.

There are a LOT of factors to consider in the choice of an implement, particularly with a piece that does not conform to the standards (?) of the Cat 1 3-pt hitch. The ease of fit, the ability to source parts for service and maintenance and dealer network support, shipping costs, etc. In this case, with the sub-frame already in hand, the factory-fit of the MF 2360, the ability of a dealer in the region to source and ship it close to me, the knowledge that it will fit/work out of the box and down the road, the parts and service knowledge is nearby.

The Martin/Reist does not have a dealer within 1000 miles of me, no ready built solution for front mount to my tractor and a cost that, when all factors are taken in, is only marginally less than the ready-to-go factory solution (mostly because I already have the sub-frame). I do like to check out the alternatives before following the tried-and-true. As many times as not, there are very good reasons the tried and true is the right solution. This is one of them.

Thanks for your efforts and advice.

So in the end I did find a decent price on the 2360 SB w/o the subframe.

I just mounted it today and got past the safety switches to get it all running well. Now I need to solve the mounting of the manual chute rotator on the tractor. The bracket supplied doesn't seem to line up with anything on the tractor. I came back to this post to see if I could find a picture showing that manual rotator-rod mounted on a tractor..

Looks like between the dealer/mfg I should figure something out.

Been having an amazing weather run the past few weeks, dry, sunny and warm, at least for this time of year. Got all the prep projects done, now to get ready for the snow. Now that I have this rig, there'll be less snow this year for sure...
