Jinma 204 -- now gone
Hi all,

Newbie questions re loaders. I understood that loaders were normally 2 point mounting ( mid mount ) or 3 point mounting where mounting brackets are run back to the rear axle for futher strength. I also understood that the 3Pt mounts were preferable to the mid mount as mid mounts, if abused to much, can assist in a tractor breaking in half.
So, I was looking at Bush Hog loaders and they show mid-mounts and " front push " compact loaders. Is the " front push " mounting the 3 point mount or is it something different.
Truthfully I have never heard of a " front push " compact loader so am a bit confused. Well, maybe always confused.

Any explanations would be appreciated.

Thanks and have a great one.

I'm confused too (not that you were looking for company in the 'confused' dept.) /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I don't know (based on your descriptions) for sure if my FEL is 2pt or 3pt or a 'front-push' (that is a puzzler to me). I suspect since the rear arms of the loader and posts are attached mid-point on both sides, as well as latched to the front of the tractor, that it is a 3-point mounting. It works great but isn't 'directly' attached back to the rear axles, but only through the transmission housing.

I see your concern, as if the housing isn't designed for the stress, breaking a tractor in two might happen and wouldn't be pretty. Really drops the re-sale value when that happens. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hi,

Well, the way I understand it is that a midmount loader is a 2 PT loader as it attaches at the front and in the middle, usually to the bellhousing of the tractor. Heavy loads, etc can cause stress at the mid point and the tractor breaks in half.

The 3 Pt attaches front, mid and to the rear axles or ROPs support.
So, this is why I couldn't figure out what a front push is.
Bushhog offers Front push loaders and mid mount. Never heard of " front push " so was really curious as to the term.

Maybe one of the people in the know will help out.

Have a good one.

The front mount is the older system and is an easier way to make a loader work for different tractors. The three point is what some have gone to and it is actually a mid mount with reinforcement bars to the rear axle. Some say that they have gone to mid mount so that the owner can access the engine easier. I have never felt that it is a problem with either type of mount, but it might be on some tractors. If a person really were concerned about breaking the tractor, the front mount with rear bars would be the strongest. I have never heard it referred to as three-point mount before.

Hi,

Thanks for the input but to really display my ignorance here I just have to ask you to clarify what you mean.
I was specifically looking at the bush hog loaders.

Front Push -- does this mount on the front, mid and have the bars that run to the axle ??

Thanks for helping out.

I just purchased a Bush Hog 2426 FEL (front push) for my 1989 Hesston 65-56 2WD tractor. The tractor model specific mounting brackets bolt on to the front (where the suitcase weight bracket used to be), & the sides of the engine in pretapped holes. There is no connection back to the rear axles.

Hi Marty,

Thanks for the post.

So, the 2246 front push mounts at the front and on the engine.

Wonder where the mid mount loader mounts then. Doesn't make a lot of sense that would only mount on the front.

And, what are the ones that go right to the back axle. Wonder what they are called.

Anyways, thanks for the input. Is appreciated.

Have a great evening.

Thanks
Tom

Loaders that are referred to as front-push actually attach to the front where a bumper would be and also at the middle of the tractor.

The mid-mount loaders mount to the middle of the tractor and usually have bars from the bottom of the mounting brackets to the rear axle.

I had a Bush Hog 1846QT on a Kubota B2150 that I traded a couple of days ago. The "front push" was the only one that would mount on my tractor. The smaller frame tractors need the loader mounted to the front frame for more strength/stability. The loader worked great and I was very pleased with it. The only drawback is that the mounting covers up the frame to mount the front weights.

Hi,

Had been looking at the Koyker Loaders and they mount front, mid and to the back axle so I understood they were called three Pt.
Didn't realize the mid mounts went to the rear axle as well.
Thought they went front and mid.

Simply did not understand the front push so thanks for the help.
