Has anyone had a problem with the front tires hitting the loader frame when turning on uneven ground? On my tractor the front axle pivots enough to make the front tire hit the front end bracket ,when turning, and damages the tire. There seems to be not enough adjustment on the bracket to create enough clearance. I may have to modify the bracket. The tractor is a 284 with a series 20 loader.

Right up front, I have no experience with your tractor/loader combination. But my first reaction would be to ask whether or not you have adjusted the toe-in to manufacturer specs. Second question would be whether or not you've tried to adjust the wheel stop bolts.

You need to swap your left tire with your right tire. It is what is called wide stance. When you do this the wheel portion of the tire assembly will be dished in and the valve stem will be on the inside. This will gain you about 4" of clearance more on each side setting you total wheel width about 8" wider from outside of the left wheel to the outside of the right wheel.

As for the rears the rims are a 2 part design allowing something like 4 with positions. I have mine set at position 3 of 4 to match the rear wheels. The way I did it was swap the left center with the right center and mount it on the inside of the tabs of the outer portion of the rim. When you do this it will put your wheel weights on the inside of the rim.

Doing both of these procedures will greatly enhance the stability of the tractor.

Thanks for the reply greg
By axle pivot , I mean the axle is rolling on its two mounting trunnions. This causes excessive up/down motion. By looking I don't think the toe in will help much. I will check to make sure.

Thanks Chris
I'll see if that helps. I could use the extra stability, I was just concerned that a wider stance may stress the front wheel mounts/pivots.

I really really caution against reversing front rims on a 4wd 200 series Jinma, especially one that's loader equipped. If your dealer recommends it AND will fully honor any remaining warranty, ok. But unless and until, I suggest you Google for how many Jinma 200 series owners have already suffered premature front end problems.

I hear what you are saying Greg but in reality there have been very few failures when you compare it to the sheer number of 200 Series Jinma's out there. I have had my tractor set to wide stance since 2004. It is a common problem with the late model 200 Series Jinma's to have the same problem as described above when equipped with a Jinma Loader, mine being one. I venture to say I use my tractor harder than 99% of the others out there having my tractor in 4 wheel drive while using the FEL probably 75% of the time. I have 504 hours as of today with no problems in less than 3 1/2 years. I would guess that 200-250 of those hours was digging hard packed gravel or dirt. The other hours is with the forks on the FEL lifting 800-900# logs, steel pieces up to 1,200#, pushing rocks the size of dishwashers, pushing snow, ect. My tractor is vary rarely used to do light duty jobs like mowing, grading, bush hogging, ect. I have changed my front axle fluid twice, once at 50 hours and once at 250 hours with no metal at all. I am planning to change all my fluids again at 600 hours.

Again it is your own tractor so do and use it how you wish but mine is tough as nails. Maybe I just got lucky but I work it hard and it never gives in. If I brake it I will just have to fix it.

Mike, I flip the tires/rims on everyone of the Jinma's I sell. You will have safer more stable ride !!

Toe in is not going to do anything for your tires rubbing the loader frame. If the toe in is out that far ....... you would not even be able to drive it...lol.

I am going to assume you have the newer style ZL20 loader and if so???..... others have had the same problem.

I think you will find in your Google search where front axles have been broke due to them not haveing proper counter weight on the rear. The front tires have to slip if and when you have it in four wheel drive.

99% of all the tractors I sell with loaders get the rear tires loaded. Depending on what type of loader work they are doing ??? sometimes even more weight is needed on the rear. ( hanging of the 3 point)

Mike-
We had a long discussion on this problem over at the Chinese Tractor Owners Club I was able to shift my front loader bracket over to gain clearance for my front tire. What saved me was I had read NOT to use 4 wheel drive when doing loader work so when the tire hit the frame it was just dragged instead of tearing up the front wheel drive gears. I only use the 4 wheel "assist" when stuck or in snow. Also ck to see if the tire hits the hydraulic filter and be careful of max out dump mode - a few guys have had their cylinders hitting the bucket frame Ronald at RanchHand supply is right about the added stability with the wider stance and my tires still hit the frame in the widest stance postion. -Ed

Thanks Ronald:
My Loader is the newer style ZL20. It's interesting to know others have had the same problem. I may flip the front wheels to gain clearance, but the biggest risk for me is forgetting to put the tractor back in 2WD after (occasinally) using 4WD to push into a pile of snow or dirt then driving on relative hardpack. It seems the problem may be with my memory , not the tractor
