Hey Winston,
Thanks for the parts breakdown.
Do you know anyone who would sell a cheaper wheel than the John Deere Brand?

Hoye has the whole front turf set mounted and shipped for right at $600

No, I don't. You might try contacting a sure nuff tractor tire dealer and asking them that question. I think the 7jax14 is the main identifying number.

I think Winston and California's suggestions are great. I'll throw out an alternative, mostly so their options look better! I would be surprised if a rear motorcycle tire wouldn't mount up nicely. There are tires available that are rather close in size, and fairly affordable: Shinko SR567 Motorcycle Tire - BikeBandit.com These come in 120/70-15 for $44 apiece. This tire would be just under 22" tall, and not quite 5 inches wide. There are some other options that would vary the width and height, according to sidewall profile and so forth. Those tires are rated for 494 lbs, on a motorcycle, at well over 100 mph. The 5.00-15 tractor tires I first found on eBay are rated to 715 lbs.

I'm not advocating using motorcycle tires on your tractor instead of other things, but if you have a friend, neighbor, or other connection at a bike shop, and money is very tight, it may be worth your while to find out if you can scrounge a pair of tires from there. Especially if foam-filled, I really don't see that not working just fine, to be honest.

Wow 284 INTL.
Thats a great idea.
I have a good friend that works at a local Harley dealership and orders tools and parts for their service dept. Harley Davidson may not be a good source but he may know about cycle tires.
Next thing you know I will be looking at Cessna tires! (just kidding..Aviation tires are priced way out of my league.
Thanks,
Torx

Pretty much any tire will work, these tractors do not weigh that much. An implement like a hay bailer or something will be far heavier per tire than your tractor will be.

I personally would not drop $600 for a set of front tires and or rears as well. You could buy a whole tractor and swap the rims tires and recoup all or mos of your money, or search CL or call Hoye and see if thye have some used. There is a member here who has swapped out car tires and some sort of rim on his 1700 as well
