Frt Snow Blower Hydraulic Fluid too cold

Balerguy,
Are you having any trouble with the blower not operating correctly? If no I personally wouldn't worry to much about the oil temp only being 60 or 70 degrees. Like grtsthegreat stated, ATF gets thin and looses lubricity at higher temperatures. ATF also attracts and absorbs moisture so the greater the heat variables the more likely to induce condensation into the reservoir.

I agree, if it works great and hurls like mad no need to worry, it shows how well the unit is made if it doesn't overheat......most complaints are about too much heat from poorly built and plumbed equipment

Like was stated if it works be happy!! If the pump does not cavitate under full throttle and you are not getting moisture [milky looking] and your oil is cool that is a good thing. Like WD said heat is normally the problem. CJ

Yep, I built that devil to run as freely as possible................ you know. 20 gpm pump, no control valves of any kind (one relief valve), 3/4" id pressure and return hoses, avoided 90* elbows, used 45* when possible, 1-1/8" suction, 10 cu. in. per rpm motor plus a 3/8" motor case drain. I could do this because my L4610 rear PTO is independent, switch on or off, with an integral one way overrunning clutch (sprag).......... plus big Hydro tank ........always thinking of OVERHEAT!

It is so cool running that I'm having to keep it blanketed to SAVE the heat.............................. reducing the UTF to a little less than 14 gallons plus the tank partially covered has raised the temp to 80* or so after an hour of use.
I wish the viscosity of my UTF was thinner but it is what I bought. JD J20 spec puts it about iso 57 at 40*C centistokes, but our ambient temps are much cooler than that at startup. I have been running it at low rpm (14-1500) for 15 mins for warmup plus an another 10 mins to get to the beginning of the drive where the (work) "snow blowing", begins. This devil really works well! Plus hopefully it will be durable and reliable and not come up short on some unknown aspect.

All of you have been great help. Thank You!
