I've been sewing my rips and tears since 1972. The Marine Corps taught me many things.
Yup. I'm single - and have owned my own sewing machine for many, many years.

The "iron-on" patches in the photos worked for me till the first time they were put in the clothes washer.

Years ago I had a neighbor who was shooting in the yard and I asked him what he was doing and he said he was taking a 12 gauge to his new jeans. No issues with safety as it was large property and the jeans were over an old stump.

I think I just kinda walked away...

I buy new jeans at Walmart or Costco for $15 if it is worn out, I've gotta count my time and effort too. I'm plenty busy and I dont waste a whole lot of $$$ on clothes.

The iron-on patches are just thin fabric with a thin layer of hot-melt glue.
I upped the ante by cutting patches from one old pair of jeans and using a hot-melt glue gun to permanently affix them. I glue a zig-zag pattern in the middle of the patch as well as the edges.
I end up with jeans that are double-thickness in the knee area, except where the actual hole was.
Preferable to new jeans for work pants with the extra-padding. And won't wash off!

I was actually just thinking yesterday, while putting on a pair of shorts, "Wow, I remember buying these shorts ... 23 years ago."

If you have a Rural King near you buy a pair of 'RK' brand blue jeans for $9.99. RK jeans are offered in a wider size selection than Walmart.

That's where I get mine.

Last time I bought jeans ( Bass Pro shop ) - I bought two pair. That was 16 years ago. I'm still wearing the first pair. Maybe I should start wearing the second pair.

If it was me, I would take the first pair off first. Just a suggestion... :D

Ha, ha - you must be peaking. Yes - some times I DO sleep with my clothes still on. Right there in my recliner.

Got to thinking. There have been a couple times when I DID wear two layers. Sweats under jeans. It was -15F and colder outside. No idea what in Hell got me outside those times but I sure don't do that stupid thing anymore.

I often dress in two layers. -15 isn't bad as long as you dress for it, much better than 90 which is just way too freaking hot.

RK stores are only located in states east of the Mississippi River.
