As an avid furniture maker, one of things I hoped to do with my tractor was harvest some of the lumber from a bottom area on my place. Nice maple, walnut and cherry was gathered. Here are some pics of the results of my labors with the chainsaw and tractor.

This one is a pile of walnut lumber. It's mostly 5/4 but there is some 9/4 material as well. The 9/4 slab on top is going to be my mantel piece after it dries (maybe 3 years for air drying).

Had a fellow named Alan Smith from Morganon, NC (near me) come out with his portable bandsaw mill to mill up the lumber after I got it skidded out of the bottom. His rig did a super job and Alan was nothing but perfect as a sawyer who cares that his customers get what they want from their logs.

This photo is of about 460 bf of nice cherry that we milled.

This is a detail on some of the 18" wide planks that came out of the walnut log. It was hit by lightning this year or I wouldn't have cut it. It was 38" diameter at waist height. We wore out 2 band saw blades cutting it. It took us 5 hours to mill it. We won't talk about how long it took me to get the trunk up out of the bottom.

This is a detail of some of the cherry that came out of the logs I harvested. Note the yellowness of the sapwood. Believe it or not that bleaches out to almost pure white over time as it dries.

Here's about 1200 board feet of spalted maple from some trees I harvested that had been down about 2 years in the bottom.

I cut a little oak too. Maybe 150 board feet out of a particularly nice trunk. We got 28" wide slabs out of it. Most was cut to 5/4 thickness but some I milled out to 9/4 for making table legs, etc. Wish I hadn't already stacked it and covered it. The medullary rays in these slabs are phenomenal. It's going to make some of the nicest table tops I've ever made I think.

Looks like an awful lot of really nice wood, and like Junkman, I'd like to see some of what you do with it.
