Jim and all,

Thanks for the encouragement. Of course I know I need to be patient - and that's when it's hardest to be so.

The dealer was kind on the phone today. For those interested, there was some type of production recall on certain of the 10 series, not sure which, but it included the 4310s. In addition, there is NO problem with production on the 60"mmm, rather, the attachment hardware for those midmount decks was recalled.

My dealer is of course trapped by these factory considerations, but he convinced me that he has gone out of his way to get the deck "released" as he called it. So far, my tractor will be shipped on Memorial Day. Sadly, I won't be able to clear my schedule now to pick it up until June 13, so will have to wait to work (play) until then. I hope it's not too late for a garden, but some things will be out.

Remember those sleepless Christmas Eve nights waiting for Santa to arrive?

I signed a PO for a 4010 on April 20th. A few days later the dealer implied that I might have the loan paid off before I see the machine. He told me he had an “inventory order” placed for a 4110. He did me a great price on the upgrade and updated the inventory order to a “customer order” on May 27th. This Saturday will be 4 weeks on the PO for the 4110 and as of today my order has not been “released”. In the mean while I’m cuttin the grass with “Ol Smokey”. Last cut I had to stop and put her into reverse to get out of cumulous cloud of grey/blue smoke that spews from her, from her, from her “exhaust pipe”. The JD salesman and I agreed that we would get together at delivery and put Ol Smokey down with extreme aggression (ahhh, the smell of black powder).
Meanwhile I have had to go back to the dealership to pick up another 40Ten brochure as the first one is as tattered as your first Playboy magazine/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif.
I have projects stacking up here in the “I can hump this $hit by hand or wait for the tractor” phase.
I’m contemplating my next move. Don’t want to piss off the dealer, but I sure could use that tractor.
Sorry for rambling. Thanks for letting me be blow off a little steam.

The Connecticut Pilgrim.

Hey Bill I called my dealer this am after reading your post last night, I told him I needed a update on where the tractor was, he was sure that it had loaded last Friday and would show up there on the 22nd and it would be deliverd Thursday night on his way home or for sure Friday. He said he would look it up and call back. He called back in about a hour with the same news you got yesterday it had been pushed back to load the 27th, they had called the zone manager to light a fire under the factory to get this shipped if they wanted to sell it. When I ordered all the dealers in my area was saying 10 to 14 days to get in, now 6 weeks later and no tractor yet. I have been useing a 8n ford of dad's to get by for what I thought was two weeks tops but as much as I have worked on it I don't know if I can afford not to just buy it and use it for a year or two, so far two new front tires, all new fluids, new steering sector, all new ignition, sway bar, just put it in the shed with water leaking from the head gasket so I will have to fix that.

Ordered my 4410 on april 29 told 3 weeks I would have it. was called back the next day and told that Deere would not produce and ship it untill middle to late June. called deere and was basically told that was the best they could do. sent deere a e-mail I told them I might have to look at their competitors if I had to wait that long... Deere reply was to go back to my dealer and make arraingments with them to cancel my order if I could not wait that long. The email that I sent to them on apr. 30 was finally answered today and signed by Annice J.D. costumer service. nice caring answer I thought .... must be nice to be in that kind of business where you can afford to blow off an order so caussally..

We've got some JD dealers around here with the exact same attitude. That's one of the reason I bought orange.

JD has a great product but their prices and their "TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT ATTITUDE" might be their downfall.

T-Bone it is not the dealer I am working with it is John Deere themselves. the dealer I have been working with is GREAT but their hands are tied. I know I have been in the office with them on several phone calls they have made to the Big green. it is corporate that doesn't seem to get it, maybe its because it is not a $150,000 green machine that they don't care

It shouldn't matter if its $150,000 or $150.00,you are using good money for their product and they should respect that either way.

I agree with True Green, my dealer is doing everything they can to keep me as a customer the problem is in corp. JD. They are untouchable, I would walk in a second on my deal but the dealer still gets hung with a special ordered tractor and it was not any fault of there's. I don't even want to think how much money I have spent on used JD equipment, JD toys for my son, and items that we collect and have always been pleased with my investment, go and order the first new tractor and get this treatment.
The Mahindra dealer down the road from work stops by every day to see if I want one delivered to the house, I bought a 3pt mower from him the day I ordered the JD he delivered it hooked to a 3510 Mahindra that he let sit here for a few days, the local Kobuta and Case IH dealers are begging bring a demo over. It is getting real hard to keep telling these guys no after 6 weeks.

How flustrating can this situation be for a Salesman or a Dealership not to be able to pacify customers who are almost "begging" to spend money with them?

Does Harley marketing tactics come into play here?Best of luck guys,it's tough being without a Tractor.
