That sounds ok, you aren't actually purchasing any fuel today.

BTW, I'm going to fill up on the way home from work today -- I hear there won't be many lines at the pump. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Also, with this post (#1000), I have now become a Veteran Member. Look out Bird I'm hot on your trail! NOT!

Bob,

I guess you are a boycotter. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
My tank's too low to wait, especially since the lines will be so long tomorrow - full of all those boycotters like you that waited to fill up. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bill, I'll probably never understand all these companies' pricing policies, but I'm in Coppell, and can go about 4 miles north to Wal-Mart in Lewisville and the gas there is cheaper than the Sam's Club about 6 miles south in Irving.

Mike ... it appears you deleted your last post. Twas there a moment ago.

Agree to disagree? Sure thing.

I'll leave you with this though

The following comments were made in letters to President Andrew Johnson, and can be found in the Papers of Andrew Johnson.

From: Sterling Cockrill, planter from Courtland, AL, 18 Sept. 1865

"We have much to say in vindication of our conduct, but this we must leave to history. The bloody conflict between brothers, is closed, and we 'come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.' The South had $2,000,000,000 invested in Slaves. It was very natural, that they should desire to protect, and not lose this amount of property. Their action in this effort, resulted in War. There was no desire to dissolve the Union, but to protect this property. The issue was made and it is decided."

I too have spend countless and very enjoyable hours with Foote, Catton, their trilogies and many other's work. I found that they either made or supported my point quite clearly.

It's an interesting topic though and glad you think so also. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

BillG . . . even with the largest engine choices available in the two cars that only have a 1/2 tank, both can wait until Friday before I have to fill up again.

Now the car with the full tank has a V8 gas guzzler and only a 12 gallon gas tank. When I turn the ignition that thing uses a 1/4 tank, just driving it out to the mail box requires I stop off twice to fill it up (once on they way out, once on the way back). But as impractical as that car is, it sure is fun to pull out of storage on sunny summer days and thunder down the roads turning heads everywhere it goes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yep, exactly. Dang trickey Yankees /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. What has that to do with high gas prices? Are we planning on seceding again--yippeeee--were do I enlist. Somehow seceding I figure might be fun but I don't think it will reduce fuel prices.

Really, folks, this might all dissolve in a few months, I would not get into a huge panic just yet.

If it does go to 3 bucks and stays there some of us will have some choices to make. Those choices are up to the individual. For me, I alwys liked smaller vehicles and next vehicle cycle I will pay more attention to fuel economy but also safety, driveability, comfort etc. Life is a balance. For those who can afford 100 dollar tanks full twice a week it really is their buisness. There will always be large vehicles, they have their place, some people will keep their large trucks etc for work or for the farm or for towing and pulling and buy something economical for commuting. There are many ways we can deal with this beyond boycotting and then there are some things in life we have little control over. Unless there is discovered another Permian Basin under Conneticut we are pretty much going to have to deal with foreign gasoline and the prices they impose upon us. If we find another Permian basin under Conneticut I am out on the seceding thing--I am moving there.

I filled up the little truck this morning. Wife filled up the Liberty this morning. I am stopping on the way in and filling the Tundra and two five gallon cans. Got to do my part to offset the boycotters. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif J

I'm right there with you, Dave..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
It'll take us both 12 years to catch Bird.
But Bird is a moving target.
So we may never catch him......

Well, I was right about no lines (if not about the Brush Hog), but it appears that Sam is holding the line on his gas price - $1.849 for regular.

Bird, when you say it's cheaper at Wal-Mart, is that with the prepaid card? What does that save - .03?

   / Fuel Boycott on the 19th !! #69
Yeah, Bill, I started using their prepaid card awhile back, although it only saves 3 cents a gallon, but the last time I bought gas at the Sam's Club, then I found that the Wal-Mart was cheaper even if you didn't use that card. Of course that was about a month ago, so I'm not sure what it is now at Sam's Club in Irving.

I used my last 5 gallon can of $1.35 a gallon gas
in our tractor today. It was a good can. I will miss it.
