fuel filter 2816

I have a 2816 4x4. Great little tractor, but that fuel filter sure is small. I carry extras in the tool box so I can do a quick field replacement when necessary. I'm past the five year warranty so I was thinking about installing a larger filter or adding an additional filter. I uses off road diesel and make sure I buy clean fuel. It's just with a lot of work that small filter has a big job to do.

The newer models have a "pre filter" filter. Sounds like what you are trying to install. I'd put it low (that's what the factory did) and use a cartridge style which are cheap and can be inspected.

You will want a shutoff between the tank and this so you can change the filter without losing all the fuel in your tank.

I don't understand why you're having problems with dirt filled filters. I have the 3016 which I'm sure is the same engine as yours, and when I change my filter at the hundred hour mark, it looks almost as clean as when new. There is no 'pre filter'. I'm very suspicious of your fuel.
