Just a quick post for those that have neglected to look at their fuel filter. Being one of the Poster Children for Kubota I should be flogged.

319 hours on my B2920 and I never gave it a second look (must be senility setting in).

Recently talking with a friend he informs me he strains all of his fuel prior to fill up - says there is a load of crap in diesel and straining helps immensely. Does anyone see value in this or should the filter take care of it (but obviously clean / replace every 200 hours).

I use a Mr Funnel whenever I fill my tank, it filters water which is an even bigger problem than crapola if it's cold out.

IMO, I would find another place to buy your fuel.

FWIW, I change my fuel filters at 1/2 the recommended interval. Pumps & injectors aren't cheap, filters are. Twice a year the local Car Quest has a filter sale (next month), it amounts to 50% off, their filters are made by Wix, top quality, it's cheap insurance.

I used one of those water filtering funnels for many years. I never found water or crud in the fuel. I do not pour the "dregs" from the jerry cans into the tractor. The "dregs" go into a bucket and I use the stuff for other projects.

Like Ed said - I'd be looking for another source for fuel.

i would much perfer a spin on type filter like trucks use than the style kubota uses, a seperate water seperater would be great also. i change my filters twice a year reguardless of the hours.

Here is a picture of the pre filter and stock filter off my Duramax after 10,500 miles.

I am very careful where I buy my fuel. I think the process of getting fuel to your equipment is very dirty no matter how careful you are. Notice how much dirt got past the pre filter.
