Appears both bleeder screws on top of the fuel filter are stripped. Air appears to be going in there. I have temporarly turned off the fuel and applied RTV around the screws. I'll see if that works tomorrow after setting overnight.

Guess I'll have to look and get this part.

Bleed screws can be easily made using a normal bolt of the same size and a drill press with a small bit. It helps to thread the bolt into a nut to enable it to be clamped more securely in the drill press vice. I have done it before in a pinch. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Tiny amounts of air entering on low pressure side of filters can keep a diesel from starting. I changed the fuel filters on my Benz once and couldn't start it. Found radial cracks in the rubber flex line to the inlet of the first fuel filer. Your stripped bleed screws upstream of the injector pump could be leaking air this way.

More recently, my wife said it missed once on her. Figured it was some water and time to change the filters. Did. It wouldn't start easily. Finally got it started, but rocky. Saw the manual fuel pump (for priming the system) rocking away. It has gotten loose on its screw mountings. I just screwed it back in. Air was leaking in there.

alot of times on hard to start diesel's u can use wd-40 the original stuff or 88 cent wallyworld brand just a light oil spray into the intake it'll run off that allowing the air to purge on alot of systems that aren't completely air locked.. either is a no no on diesels unless it's extremely low compression 7-10 to 1 systems or metered amount.

Therez no way of flooding a diesel since the fuel kernel uses compression there is alwayz a super rich region of fuel the mixing of the air and fuel atomizes until it reaches a ratio til it ignites so even if u had alot of raw fuel there'd be area's of fuel and air at the right mix and temp to ignite and would spread never heard of flooding a diesel way too lil fuel compared to the cylinder area.

and it's prob the injectors that run out since it ran then quit probaly got air in the injector lines the pump is hard to get outa prime unless it runs along time.
