"I am getting a bio-diesel. I can't find any around here that isn't. It just says on the pump that it is between 5% and 20% blend."

Dodge Man,

I'm not sure where you are in central IL., but I've been buying all my fuel from the truck stop at the corner of IL-104 and Interstate 55 for over 20 years. I know they blend it for winter and I also add power service anti-gel. I don't think they sell bio in the winter. Check them out if you're close.

I'm located in Macomb, Illinois, which is a pretty good distance from where you are. I'm buying my fuel from places that would appear to have pretty good turnover in fuel. One place I usually get it is the only place setup to fuel the big rigs in town. I tend to think the fuel is gelling but I'm not sure. I'll just try adding more anti-gell stuff.

Yes bio-diesel does gell when in the 20's. We have has several VW diesel owners car who run the homemade bio die during this cold winter weather. I find that the screen in the fuel tank along with the filter is plugged. I have read that some start the engine on regular diesel and once warm switch over to the bio. They have installed a coolant feed fuel heater. Were're lucky as the bio isn't at the pumps yet.

For the amount of fuel I consume in a year I run on road diesel. ( 50 - 75 gallons ) Mostly because it's always available a mile from my house. I ran heating oil a few times in a pinch and it smells awful and gives me a headacheif I run the tractor for a while.

Adding anti gel will help, just a thought do you keep your tank mostly topped off? I'm not sure how much the tank would condensate as its a fairly closed system but......
I usually add some Centane (??)Octane Boost with an antigel agent to the can when I fill up, available at Wally Mart.

Ugh. :(:( Bio juice in diesel and ethanol in gas. I know the politicos that be think all this stuff is nifty, but I just wish there was some freedom of choice in these matters. Just an old fashioned pure fuel kinda guy myself.

I changed my fuel filters at 50 hours (now 134 hr) and still run fuel from August 09 in MA...runs fine.
:confused:Several of the posts refer to "fuel filters". Is there more than one fuel filter on the BX2660? I only see one plastic fuel filter and one gizmo that is metal and is called the "fuel pump" in my Operators Manual.

My 50 hr. kit came with 2 fuel filters, indeed.

:)Thanks BP. If the wind chill wasn't at zero here, i'd go out and look; but, repeat, the manual on pg 50 calls the rear plastic filter a "fuel filter"....it calls the metal gizmo downstream from it a "fuel pump". So, where is the other fuel filter that is plastic?

One is by the engine near the pump and one is back between the lift pump and fuel tank
