Good news - Bad news - Good news
As promised, the dealer called saying the tractor was ready. It turned out that my friend purchased a new hay cutter so I had to road the tractor from the dealer to my friend's barn with the new cutter, drop off, pick up a bale of hay & hook up to his cultipacker, then road to my place two miles away. Not one minute into the drive from the dealer I noticed the engine surged a little and I said to myself...they didn't fix it! This is at 4:45pm today. A half mile from friend's place tractor loses all power, will not climb a slight incline, puffs white/blue smoke, etc,,etc...I'm pissed. I call dealer, they send tech to find me...(5:00). Tech follows me at idle speed until I jump out of the tractor cussing that I'm gonna put a bullet into the **** thing. Tech drives tractor - learns what i've been saying the whole time. (By the way, the tech that is here now is a veteran with the tech that worked on the tractor at the dealer). To shorten the saga....I limp to my place and after fiddling with several things, he drains the tank and cleans the filter at the fuel intake line....THAT'S IT!!!! ; WORKS GREAT!!!... Field now ready for sprigs.
So the tractor has a new fuel injection pump courtesy of warranty - wrongly diagnosed but...new
Oh, and in addition... I purchased a hydraulic ripper box blade from dealer a month ago. Used it once but could not get the blade to adjust correctly. In order for it to "cut" correctly it would not raise up enough to back up! (I've dealt with box blades for 25 years...no dummy) That was a month ago I dropped off the tractor with blade for dealer to figure out. They did...Turns out the linkage plate needed turned over to drop linkage arm holes down in order to work properly. It was plain in the manual...wish I had one as the previous owner did not give me one. Just a tidbit.
All in all...very happy with Brazos Valley Equipment. They were very courteous and responsive.
