Fuel price spread

Was wondering what folks in other areas are seeing.

Here in the greater Sacramento area, prices for gas have usually had a 10 cent spread between grades, ie reg $2.09, Mid $2.19, and super $2.29.

Lately though, I have noticed many stations have a wider spread. Last night, I saw $2.09 for reg, but $226 for mid and 2.36 for super. One went 15 cents between each grade.

Diesel runs all over the place, from close to regular price, to more than super price.

Just curious what others are seeing?

It's usually the same $0.10 in between prices over here too.

About a month or so ago I noticed the same thing. It jumped up $0.15 between Regular and Mid Grade and $0.10 - $0.15 to Super. It seems to have leveled back out lately though. Makes you wonder. Gerard

this morning at 5:30 am, my Mobil was 1.85 for 87 oct, 1.95 for mid (89) and high (93) was $2.04.

My other station the gas is 1.83, 1.93, 2.03. Diesel is $2.27

The wonderful diesel was down to $2.25..what a steal!!!!! This is in MA. Ct diesel is still $2.37

Here in fly-over country, I paid $1.76 for premium unleaded at 3:30am this morning. Sounds like the coasts pays the mosts. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've got to diesel up this morning. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I didn't check prices yesterday evening coming in but it's been running between $1.95 to $2.09 here.

But yesterday my wife called excited like she was having puppies. The sign out front of Krogers said $1.79 for regular but if you use your Kroger card it's three cents off of that. But when she looked at the pump it was reading $1.66 for her regular. Another customer came running over who was also filling up with regular all excited to see if her pump showed what his was.

Unless of course all those guys who lost their jobs at Enron are now helping out the fuel industry and doing to the nation what they did to California.

I have become accustomed to checking www.gasbuddy.com It's a site where people post the price they pay for gas within the last 12-36 hours. The volunteer posters are quite active in my area. It gives me the one-ups for the best price of gas before I leave the house.

Around here the difference is usually around a dime between grades with truck (sales tax exempt) diesel between regular and premium but closer to unleaded pricing.

Up until a year ago we consistently had a 10 cent spread between grades. Now it is more common to see a 7 or 8 cent spread. Today's prices at Exxon were: Reg 1.719 Mid 1.809 Prem 1.889 and Diesel $2.029

Check www.flyingj.com they have all of their prices for regular and diesel nationwide.

$1.79 for 87 octane, $2.07 for diesel.

Yesterday on I35 in Waco I saw one convenience store on the frontage road with diesel for $1.79. A little farther north nearer Dallas it was advertised for $2.07.

I filled up in Lexington leaving Don's place for $1.93. It was the cheapest I noticed except for that one renegade shop along 35.

There was one little town between Waco and Lexington that had regular at two different places for $1.65.
