The JD 4110 uses the same basic Yanmar engine but includes a glow plug preheat position on the key switch. Check out the starting instructions in the online 4110 manual here:

When I found out the 2210 did not have the preheat function (and before I knew about the trick), I asked the dealer to demonstrate its cold start capability last winter. I think they were just as curious as me since it was their first 2210. They left the tractor outside overnight and when I arrived the next morning, it was zero degees F. The 2210 started up just fine, without too much cranking. It just starts up faster and with less smoke and clatter if you preheat.
