I once owned a M4900 that acted as you describe as fuel bowl wouldn't stay full & engine would stop running.. Local Kubota service manager told me to check fuel shut valve in water separator for a plugged screen. Sure enough there was a small white screen that was plugged. I removed screen and never had any more fuel problems with that tractor as long as I owned it.
