I have a 300 gallon diesel storage tank that came built with some small angle iron supports to keep it off the ground. I致e had the tank sitting on some cribbing, to keep it off the moisture from the ground (Inside a barn, stone floor).

I'm interested to see what options I have to make this a little more "mobile"? I'll have concrete in the barn in a year or so, and it would be nice to be able to "easily" move the tank if needed. I.e. If I could pull the tank out of the barn so the fuel truck doesn't have to come as far down the driveway, great. I might move it once a year if at all. So I'm thinking of cheap, easy options. Almost like how an anhydrous tank is moved?...just not on the road.

Just curious to see what others have done.

Just a caution. I have an inquiry to my insurance company asking how much fuel (gas and diesel) they will approve in my pole barn and attached garage. Might be worth looking into.

+1 on that. Additionally, any fuel storage tank must have a containment vessel around it to comply with codes.

Not all storage tanks require containment. I believe it varies by state. Tank volume factors into the required containment. It's been awhile since I've looked but I want to say it was >500gal when things became required for containment.

Lots of tanks around here just sitting out in the open.

Let me know what they say, I'd be curious. Should be the same as fuel oil, if you're storing diesel. Gasoline would be a different story....

Just looked up the Ohio Revised Code - 700 gallons or greater.

you're talking about 2,400 lbs of Diesel, anything with wheels would have to be very sturdy, and depending on how fast it's moved, there's going to be a lot of kinetic energy, suppose you need to stop really fast.. and as far as tanks go, I don't think mobile tanks require double walls, just stationary tanks.

I'm thinking an old trailer or make my own. The most this thing would go is a few hundred feet down the driveway. Basically to make it easier to move full, than sitting on the ground.

I have a much smaller tank that I mounted on a skid with pallet fork pockets. I can easily put it on my flatbed to get it filled and then offload it into my barn. 300 gallons is a large tank.
