Fuel Storage Tank - Mobile Stand / Cart?

For that much weight a trailer sounds perfect. I have a 100 gal and just built a pallet out of 2x6 and 4x4 for my pallet forks.

I have a much smaller tank that I mounted on a skid with pallet fork pockets. I can easily put it on my flatbed to get it filled and then offload it into my barn. 300 gallons is a large tank.

Since you brought it up, I did the same with a diesel tank from on old reefer. 50 gal. Built a wood frame to hold it safely and I use my pallet forks to load it on the pickup. Added a pump, and when in the garage it sits on two HF dollies. 50 gal is 4-5 months of use for me. My supplier will not deliver less than 150 gallons so I understand why the OP may need/want a larger tank...especially if he uses it up quickly. Using off-road diesel ( $.50 a gallon savings) I will pay back my investment in about 2 years and not need to deal with those 5 gal jugs.

BTW, I have a 300 gallon tank but worry about the fuel going bad if stored that long. YMMV

Just got this from my insurance agent. I would suggest others check with their carriers if storing fuel indoors.

"Sorry for the delay - There really is no "maximum" allowed for gas (or diesel). Approved containers, yes, but no maximum amount you can have on premises as long as being used for your own personal use - cars, tractors, lawn mowers etc

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

This is good news for me as I was looking at having to add a shed. Intend to keep 30-50 gal of each type of fuel on hand for the convenience, a power outage, and in case of an emergency.

If it’s not stored in a humid place and is treated and in a dry place it will last and in 20 months you could have them deliver more and they might even treat it for you, no more 5 gal cans or 50 gal side tanks, it would be just a phone call away. If I used 50 gals every 4-5 months I would have a big gravity tank.
If it’s off highway diesel just make sure you don’t fill up a diesel pickup with it, think the fine is like 10 dollars a gallon if caught.
