Fuel System Woes

   / Fuel System Woes #11
So I finally got around to changing the filters on the MF35 with a Perkins. These filters and canisters were horrible, perhaps 15 years old or older!! After cleaning the canister some I discovered why it had a slow leak, I thought it was gasket related. Well it seems the water mix in bottom caused major corrosion and a few pin holes.

This is a CAV filter unit, and some aftermarket systems use a can style filter with a glass bowl under it. Besides finding a good used unit or a new one, how could this be repaired? It appears it was repaired before with silver solder or some such around the drain bolt. I have even thought about jb weld just to try it. I have never silver soldered or brazed anything and could give that a try.

What do yall think? View attachment 675554View attachment 675555View attachment 675556View attachment 675557View attachment 675558

I'd grab the part number search the web for new or used. Click to enlarge:

I have a buddy that does not believe in maintenance.
His B21 was stuttering, lacked power etc.

Well his air cleaner looked like a bird had nested there and his fuel filter was so dirty that it had collapsed.
Never mind what his radiator screen looked like.

Never learns, just says how good a Kubota is built to withstand abuse.
LOL, treats his cars the same way.
