I'm curious about the contradicting theories you've heard. Believe me, they are real. They can bring a 75,000 HP marine diesel to it's knees within an hour. The organisms are also highly corrosive and can do serious and expensive damage to fuel system components.

When I had the same or similar problem I searched through the threads here on TBN and found a few arguments for and against the bugs. If you'd like to see the contradicting theories search for yourself. For my problem I cleaned out the filters and filled the tank up with fresh fuel and the tractors run perfectly ever since. Maybe I got lucky who knows?
