Patrick:
Spelling is not my forte. I thought it looked kinda funny but then as an excuse I'm tired from a busy weekend. Used a sycthe to cut three acres of rye. Spent a day paddling the canoe around the lake trying to get some supper and then had the priviledge of watching the RCMP conduct a backwoods drug raid next to our property.
And oh yes,my hearing is also bad. Clinical data available.

Re: Full Size SUV\'s

Hey Egon, you used the "C" word... I haven't had my canoe down out of the shop rafters for over a year, darn darn darn! Keep intending to take it down and use it with a weighted fish line to get some bathemetry in my ponds. I don't have a tested recipe for one if I caught it but oh well... For that matter I used to shoot skeet and never had a skeet recipe either. Tsk tsk tsk.

Re: Full Size SUV\'s

Better mileage? I thought you ran with the tailgate down to make it harder for the cops to see the expired tag. ;)

Re: Full Size SUV\'s

You're a sick man Bgott!!!!

BTW that picture of your fishing trip brought up some real memories. Twenty five years ago this winter Dad, young son, and myself went "rock fishing" out of Oxnard, California. It was a middle of the week trip. So the fishermen and ladies on the boat were pros to some degree.

They took one look at the blond four year old boy hanging back shy like and went straigtht to the captain. Naturally he came to me. He wanted to know if the boy had been fishing on the ocean before. I assured him that he had but never on a boat as big as his. He then asked me the critical question, "does the kid get seasick?"

I put my finger over my lips and shsh'd him. I explained that he never had and if we didn't mention he probably never would.

It was a rough trip. Half the local pros ended up in the hold on their knees holding their tummys.

There's two things about my father that are as sure as the sun coming up and going down. The first is he will take a good picture. If I'd got his baby blues and was as purty as him my problems in life would surely have been about women. The second is he catches fish. If there's a chance anyone will catch fish in a given situation he will catch the fish.

The limit was fifteen rock fish. We had to be thankfull that the local pros were too sick to fish. We had way over a hundred between us. So we could take the biggest fifteen each and share the rest with them.

Dad had a small cod take a big hook. A leopard ling cod took the small cod. What hooked the big fish was the fins of the small fish. Darnedest thing I saw that whole year.

If my scanner gets hooked up right I'll scan in a picture for you of that trip. It's of that fish with the little fish in it's mouth and my son squatting down beside it. The fish is bigger than the boy.

Back on subject: Yesterday I drove an H2. Yup, the new Hummer from GM. $53,900 sticker in the glove box and finer than a frog hair split three ways.

Now I've been to more than one rodeo. I've attended a goat roping or three. I've raced figure eights for grins and competed in desert races on a yamaha 465 cause it was the fastest thing available to do that with.

But I've never been as surprised by a vehicle like I was by that H2. It is a class act. I look at it like I look at the Avalanche. When you're driving it you're not having to look a the ugly. It made our Bravada feel like driving a wagon in a recliner race. Inside it doesn't feel big at all when you're behind the wheel. Your field of vision is impressive and the ride is more like that of a Lincoln Towncar someone has sent to Roush for some performance tuning.

I liked it. And if the ship ever came in and there was anything left of the port I think it would be my weapon of choice for commuting.

Honda Pilot

My wife recently bought a Honda Pilot. This is a very nice vehicle. I have never bought a foreign car and am a union pipefitter by trade. The last Chevy product I bought was a POS. Anti-lock brakes went out at 60,000 miles-$1000.00, emergancy brakes went out at 60,000 miles- $500.00. Engine has knocked on every cold start since new, and the dealer says that's what it is supposed to do.
Give me a break.
I decided to go with a Honda due to the overwhelming positive feedback from Honda owners. This new pilot is very plush and overall pleasing. I will let you know if issues arise.
By the way, I drive a crew-cab powerstroke, with 200,000 miles so far. I am not changing.

Re: Honda Pilot

But the Pilot will only tow 4500 pounds.... couldn't tow my horse trailer OR my Cub Cadet...

Re: Full Size SUV\'s

bgott (AKA Bond, James Bond)
Do you also have a tack dispenser ala the Beattles movie, "Help"? Or maybe a detachable rear fender ala Robert Mitchum in, "Thunder Road", or a rotating set of lisc plates on your Bondesque Aston Martin DB-5.

But seriously, once upon a time I installed the rear lisc plate on my Sunbeam Tiger, hinged to fold up at high speeds so as to not display my tag. Got warned about it a couple times by the gendarmes as they noted its ease of swinging even at "town" speeds so I aded a small magnet to hold it, with empirical adjustment sessions, until about 70 then it would pull free and float in the slipstream.

Ahh, youth...

Re: Full Size SUV\'s

I went rock fishing with my Dad out of Sausalito when I was a kid. That was way before I ever gave a thought to commercial fishing. I never got seasick but I think he did once or twice because he loaded us up with dramamine before we left.
