On Sep 1 starting at 11am the 3rd Bi-annual Old Time Ag Day show will be taking place on County Road 375 E (exact address unknown) 4.5 miles north of Seymour IN. This is the first I've heard of it (just happened to see a poster) and it's only about 10 miles south of me, so I'm going to try to go. It says they will have rope making, saw milling with steam engine, antique gas tractors, horse drawn machinery, buggy rides, plowing with horses (I've seen this at an event in MI before and it's pretty fun to watch), pony rides, lunch will be served at 11am (until ?), and free ice cream. For more info call 812 522-3609 or 522-7336.

Danny,
Do you know anything about a similar festival in Greensburg, IN on October 5th? I spoke with some people at the State Fair (working in the Pioneer Village) about it (actually tey told me about it). I've not been able to find anything else about it out (internet or festival guides).

No, I haven't heard of it. If I do go to the one on Sep 1 I'll ask around about it though.

CGranat - I did find out some info on the event in Greensburg. The name of the farm is Humphries (not sure of the spelling). You might be able to find them in the phone book and call for more info.

My family and I did go to the one near Cortland on Sep 1st. They had some pretty neat old steam engine tractors and other antique tractors, pony rides, and lots of neat old stuff to look at.

Danny,

From reading your message above I get the impression you live near Columbus. Is that correct?

I live near Gnaw Bone ..... thus the online name, gnawbone.

Kent - We live less than 10 miles apart! I live south west of Ogilville, about 1 mile from the Brown County line. I've been to Gnaw Bone many times. You've probably been to D&J Equipment I bet? One of the owners, Ron Newsome, lives about 5 miles from me. I bought my sickle mower, bush hog, post hole digger, and boom pole there. They meet or beat TSC prices. So, how did they ever come up with the name of that town?

OK you southern Hoosiers... do you know where the town of Trevlac got it's name?

Beautiful part of the state (and country) you all live in /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Danny,

Yeah, I am very familiar with D&J! I was at D&J the other night looking over their Box Blades, $300 for a 5 footer. In Morgantown they are $550 and in Spencer they are $650. My father-in-law bought and old tractor from D&J a few years ago. He has a new JD 5105 now. He bought a boom-pole at D&J also, we used it yesterday to pull out some fence posts. I will probably buy a box blade by the end of this week.

We are actually trying to sell our house so we can build over on some property we have. The property is on Harrison Ridge Road about 2 miles south of 46 and a mile north of Bellesville Pike (that goes over to Grandview Lake). Our property is probably only about 5 miles from your place! Small World.

As for Gnaw Bone, it is kind of like Hoosier, a million guesses and they're probably all wrong!

Rob,

I don't know the whole story but has something to do with somebody named 'Calvert'. Couldn't tell you if that is a first name or last name, though.

Do you know the story?

Well Kent, you know as much about Trevlac as I do. Something about Calvert, but not sure what.

I spent a lot of time in my childhood in southern Indiana between parents who were avid IU fans to Boy Scout campouts throughout the area and even recently I'm a Hilly Hundred regular.

Like I said before, georgeous part of the country /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
