My one Son is a custom home builder and his brother is having him build he and his wife a new home.

So I get this call, "Hi Dad, what are you doing today?" Everytime I get those kinds of calls it means work for me.

So guess who they called to backfill the foundation, yep you got it, me.

Here are a few pictures of the first day, which is going to turn into many, the fill has to go from the foundation way out in the yard because of the depression in the property. My builder son is having a truck move the dirt from another of his lots elswhere in the development. It started raining in day 2, today Sat and we had to stop.

My builder Son thought he would have some fun last night after I left and moved some dirt on his own. That changed after he almost tipped it over and ended his play time then and there.

In the third picture with the truck the dirt has to go to the top of the wall all the way around to the front.

I love moving material with the bucket. Seat time at it's best.

IMO, you need a ballast box on the rear for that type of work. And, it would improve the performance of getting into the pile noticeably.

How much does your rear blade weigh.??

Since you have a cab, you're not eating dirt on windy days like us open station guys. Actually I don't mind moving dirt when it's not windy and cold.

The blade weighs 285 lbs, plus the rear tires are filled. I didn't have any problems with a light rear with a full bucket. Between Fri and Sat. I put in about 8 hrs seat time. More to come this next week if it doesn't rain.

Hi Matt, You are right, it was windy, dusty and cold, but I didn't notice. Nice and quiet, this was probably the one time I wish it had a radio.

I actually had to have the A/C on with the Sun beating down on the cab.

Wow, that's a lot of dirt to fill for a home. How big is that home going to be? How close to tipping over did your son get? Did he leave an awkward smell in the cab????

Don't have too much fun...

Rain can really spoil your dirt fun.

The house is just over 2100 sq feet, ranch with two garages, one 23x24 and one 23x29. The larger of the two is also has a tall ceiling inside to put in a 4 post lift. The basement is going to be fully finished with a home theater room, bar, etc.

I wasn't there when my son got tippy, but there is green paint on the foundation where he hit it with the brush guard. He hasn't wanted to drive the tractor since, good for me I guess.:D:laughing:
