Snow Fun in the snow

Seriously -- yes, I know what it's like when the wind is howling, and it's not fun. But, like hube2, I dress for it.

One trick I've learned in the past 3 years or so: when I clear the lower, flat area in front of my garage -- where I need to push the snow west & north, and that's JUST where the wind's coming from -- I disengage the PTO and use the blower as a scoop/plow to push snow over to the edge. Then I lower to idle, and with the chute pointed downward a bit, engage the PTO for a few seconds. Empty the blower, disengage the PTO, back up, and go for another pass.

This has worked surprisingly well to avoid looking like the abominable snowman after clearing snow when it's windy. On the uphill part of the drive, I can shoot snow either to the east or to the west, so I use the blower normally and choose the appropriate direction.

LOL, must be getting old as I no longer find snow 'fun'.

My CUT has 2 hydraulic pumps.
The front supplies FEL lift which in turn is linked to my plow for raising.
Well the coupler failed and then came the fun of repairing in my outdoors shop.

After 2-3 hours I was back in service. I simply re routed the factory rear hoses to activate the lift circuitry.
Fortunately I had in my 'stock' all the fittings and hose needed for the transformation.
Alls well that ends well.

Decently appropriate weather (+32) was well appreciated, (unlike once having to change a block heater in extreme cold weather).

I was stuck in the middle, wanted\had to have a snowblower but didnt want a full time cab. I bought a Berco softcab that takes just a few minutes to put on and take off just for the winter. Can be heated and have visibility all around. Easy to get in and out of and not too expensive. Was about 300 USD....used it 4 winters now, no holes or rips...even if you do get one its an easy repair.

Later I will try and adapt a Moose 60 inch ATV snowplow to my loader bucket without destroying it too much but I am in no hurry.

I am very interested in lower cost cab options like these but I wasn't sure how they were once the snow inevitably hit the windshield area. Does it fog up or become hard to see through? My brain keeps telling me that I need glass and a wiper.

Thanks for the tip on the Berco softcab. That really sounds like something I want to have.
